This is a paper presentation to the Oxford Ethnography and Education Conference 2008. The paper focuses on the complexity of the researcher’s role in ethnography by arguing that subjectivity of the researcher plays a crucial part in the process of research – maintaining healthy relationships with participants and resolving conflicts arising from constraints of professional/academic responsibilities and ethical principles.
