Activity: Public engagement and outreachPublic speaking engagements

Description

Building on the previous collaborative practice of Wanda Moretti, Kate Lawrence and Lindsey Butcher, ‘Creating Connections’ draws on the participatory spirit and inventiveness of experimental dance work undertaken in 1970’s New York that laid the foundations for vertical dance. 'Creating Connections: in Conversation' is the closing event of the Creating Connections project. A film was shown of the three workshops held in Venice, Llandudno and Brighton with refugees, disabled school children, and professional dancers with disabilities. Then there was a round table discussion of the project with an invited panel of guests: Margaret Wilson, professor of Theatre and Dance at Univeristy of Wyoming, Sara Houston, Professor of Dance at University of Roehampton, Laura Delfini, choreologist, DES - Danza Educazione Società, Joana Haigood, Artistic Director of Zaccho Dance Theatre, San Francisco, Kat Ball, freelance disabled dancer and Daniela Essart, Artistic Director of Scarabeus Aerial Theatre, UK.
