Description

Graduate Student conference. Presented on my upcoming PhD thesis "Being and Emptiness: A Critique of Euro-American Ontologies from a Gelugpa Tibetan Buddhist Perspective," highlighting the need overcome 'irrelevance by way of specialisation.' To truly decolonise academia, Asian thought must hold the same authority whereby we apply Aquinas and Aristotle, Kant and Derrida, or Durkheim and Foucault. The bright golden lights of localised philosophy, theology, and science should not be the sole lamps illuminating the shadowed corners of Asian thought—nor should the bright golden lights of Asian thought be academically ignored by way of private scholarly self-illumination.
