Activity: Public engagement and outreachContribution to the work of non-academic organisations

Description

The National Working Group on Spiritual and Ritual Abuse focuses on addressing coercion, control, and harm within religious and belief-based settings. As part of its efforts to explore the impact of harmful religious practices, the group provided a platform to discuss our research on mandated shunning. The research conducted by Windy and me was presented to the group, highlighting the psychological, social, and emotional consequences of enforced isolation within religious communities. This presentation contributed to ongoing discussions on safeguarding and the need for professional awareness in addressing spiritual abuse.
