Description

The I-CAN Programme ran for 8 weeks starting on the 3rd July 2024. The Programme consists of 8 three hour workshops designed to support care experienced young people aged 18-29 into careers in health and social care.

The programme consisted of workshop, clinical skills, employment and interview skills and employer talks.

Programme content as follows:
Week 1: Introduction to Health and Social Careers
Week 2: Introduction to the Wellbeing Team and reflection & Positive Psychology for Wellbeing and Learning
Week 3: The role of the healthcare student & Person centred care
Week 4: Infection prevention and control & Delivering person centred care
Week 5: Basic Life Support & Personal wellbeing in healthcare
Week 6: Working in healthcare: Building your skills
Week 7: Communication skills for healthcare careers & Workplace visit to the Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability
Week 8: Bringing it all together

Following the programme students went onto degrees, foundation degrees and employment
