Race Equity Month: Leadership Development for Academics

Activity: Public engagement and outreachPublic speaking engagements

Description

This year as part of our, Race Equity Month series in November 2022, we will be running an online event for minoritised academics. The event will begin with a panel discussion with Q&A and will then be followed by workshops for attendees to discuss further. The panel discussion includes exploring some of the barriers
to accessing leadership opportunities and thinking about what more we can be done by HEIs (and beyond) to better support the career development of those who experience racism.

Event audience
The audience will be comprised of university sector leaders, including Pro-Vice Chancellors, Deans and Heads of Schools of Health from across the four UK home nations. We would also expect other academic and research staff from nursing, midwifery and the allied health professions. We will be inviting our Fellows from our Fellowship Scheme which aims to promote diversity in the healthcare academic and research workforce and encourage healthcare students to be joining from our Student Leadership Programme.
