Description

I'm developing ecological models to investigate a range of ‘fishing’ scenarios and impacts on the sustainability of marine fisheries. This work will inform marine policy, commercial fisheries, and retailers (such as the those listed in the next section, which are all project partners) and will be disseminated through a series of workshops.

For instance, like the successful ‘forgotten cuts’ campaign led by Waitrose (that encouraged nose-to-tail use of animal products), this work will provide sound scientific evidence that reducing consumption of a few popular species (cod, haddock, tuna etc.) in favour of more ‘underutilised’ fish species (such as sardines, pilchards, herring etc., often ‘bycatch’), promotes the long-term sustainability of UK marine fisheries.
