Historic Worthing Theological Society

    Impact: Cultural impact

    Description of impact

'Just a short note to thank you so very much for coming to Worthing last night. Your lecture was much appreciated, particularly as it covered a different perspective on the Resurrection which was new to our members. A number would appreciate having a copy of the PowerPoint presentation so, if you are happy for it to be released, I can do that if you send it to me.'

'When putting together the lectures in any one year I try to locate people who whose areas of study look interesting and which fit together in a broad programme as a whole. I am quite adept at searching university websites for the staff profiles which is where I located you. I was fascinated by what you had written so I did the obvious thing and invited you. '

    Notes/Actions
Though I have been careful to protect my research from illicit publication the secretary of the Society accessed some of the things I had said on PURE and contacted me about talking about them.

    Potential Impact(s) where applicable

This was the first time I had spoken in public about my ideas. The response was enthusiastic and I was asked to supply my PowerPoint presentation for further study. I duly obliged.

But the greater impact will come once the book is published. It is as I have said a ‘trade book’: ‘an academic monograph rooted in original scholarship that has a broad public audience.’
