Personal profile
Biography
I am an accomplished academic currently pursuing a PhD in Sociology under the supervision of Dr. Yuwei Lin and Dr. Deborah Jermyn at Roehampton University. I hold a BA (Hons) in Film and Television from UAL and an MA in Global Media and Digital Communications from SOAS. During my BA, I explored the impact of social media platforms on women's rights, focusing on changes in politics and the representation of women on screen. My MA dissertation at SOAS University investigated the influence of media framing theory on public opinion regarding complex political issues, specifically examining religious identity and media narratives during conflicts. My scholarly work continues to enhance the understanding of digital media's role in contemporary social dynamics.
My doctoral research examines the significant impact of content shared by lifestyle influencers on social media and its role in shaping identities among Generation Z. This work delves into how digital interactions influence personal and group identities, reflecting a blend of my extensive background in media studies and my keen interest in the sociological impacts of digital communication.
Research interests
I am deeply engaged in the exploration of media and its intersections with sociology, politics, and cultural studies. My research focuses on understanding the transformative role of social media in shaping digital identities and the broader digital landscape. I am particularly interested in how social media algorithms influence public opinion and policymaking. My work aims to dissect the complexities of digital interactions and their implications on societal norms and cultural dynamics. I integrate a critical analysis of digital content with a keen insight into the sociopolitical underpinnings that drive media consumption and production in the modern age.
