Personal profile

Biography

I am a Lecturer in the department of English and Creative Writing. My research and teaching interests include writing fiction for young readers, posthumanism, animal studies, new materialism and ecocriticism, with a focus on twentieth century literature, Anglo-American poetry and contemporary children's fiction. Prior to joining Roehampton, I worked for several years as a literary agent at Felicity Bryan Associates (focussing on middle-grade and young adult fiction). I have subsequent additional interests in, and also teach across, all areas of Publishing - with a specialism in Children's Publishing. At Roehampton, I sit on the editorial board of Fincham Press and am an Associate Editor of IJYAL (International Journal of Young Adult Literature).

My AHRC-funded doctorate was awarded by the University of Oxford in January 2015. At Oxford, I was Editor-in-Chief of The Oxonian Review and Arts Editor at Bluestocking. I spent a year as a Kluge Fellow at the Library of Congress in Washington DC.
