Dr André P Slowak has conducted fieldwork with leading technology sectors in the UK as well as emerging economies. His current research outputs concern international sustainability transitions, sustainability & finance, and business development in the UK, China and India. He has also led various joint studies with multinational corporations and business consultancies; and gained experience from UK, Germany, Eastern Europe, Canada, China and Japan. His findings are presented at international conferences, such as, the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, the European Academy of Management Annual Meeting or the Regional Studies Association Winter Conference.
He features about 10 years of experience in directing international business and management curricula, has supervised PhD students and led bespoke international postgraduate programmes in the UK and Germany. André believes in action-based teaching and a balance of theory and uncharted empirics inquiry in partnership with major corporations and business organisations. Thus he encourages students to apply rigorous and imaginative academic thinking to contemporary global challenges, such as, climate change, human robotics or rise of megacities. He enjoys supervising research project and dissertations students, some of whom go on to publish scholarly papers and achieve careers in NGOs, leading multinational corporations, the big strategy consultancy firms or high-technology companies.
André holds a PhD in Business Studies & Economics from the University of Hohenheim at Stuttgart, and a double degree corresponding to an MBA/MSc from TU Dortmund University. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Prior to joining academia, André was a banker and management consultant in university-industry partnership.
