Andy is Senior Lecturer in Translation Technology. He is an experienced translator and interpreter (working mainly with Japanese/English), and works as a freelance concurrently with his post at the University. He is a Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI).
Andy teaches classes on computer-assisted translation tools and software localisation. He is an Approved Trainer for leading translation memory software SDL Trados Studio, as well as SDL's University Lecturer Champion (from 2012). He is designer and webmaster of the site of online translation journal JoSTrans.

He has an MA in Japanese Studies and a BA in French/German and lived in Japan for a number of years.
