Biography

Anita Biressi is Professor of Media and Society in the Department of Media, Culture and Language at the University of Roehampton. She is Convenor of the MA Media, Communication and Culture.

Research interests

Her research interests include: documentary and popular factual programming, popular journalism, crime and law and order, class difference in contemporary British culture and gender and political voice.

She is the author ,with Heather Nunn, of Class and Contemporary British Culture (2013 Palgrave Macmillan). ' If you care about the fate of society in neoliberal democracies such as Britain, you really must read this book' (Prof Nick Couldry). 'Biressi and Nunn's brilliant analysis of the binding centrality of class in Britain is historically rich, intellectually astute, finely detailed and deeply knowledgeable.'
