Beatriz Sanchez is a Senior Lecturer on the PsychD in Counselling Psychology at the University of Roehampton, having previously headed the Psychology and Therapy Department at the Huntercombe Hospital Roehampton, a mental health in-patient unit. Before this, Beatriz was the Clinical Director for Community Housing and Therapy, a mental health charity which run therapeutic communities for psychosis, and lectured on its postgraduate diploma with Middlesex University, for a number of years. She is a BPS Chartered Clinical Psychologist Specialist in Psychotherapy and HCPC registered. She runs her own private practice providing specialist assessments and using the psychodynamic model of intervention. She is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the International Journal of Therapeutic Communities and a Therapeutic Community Specialist for the Centre for Quality Improvement - Royal College of Psychiatrists. She has previously been a member of the executive committee of the International Society for the Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis (ISPS), a trustee of the Association of Therapeutic Communities and a member of the HMP Dovegate Therapeutic Community Advisory Group. Beatriz has published in psychotherapy journals, such as the British Journal of Psychotherapy and presented papers in national and international conferences. Her particular interest is in Lacanian psychoanalysis and hermeneutics, therapeutic communities and the psychotherapy of the psychoses.
