Biography

Dr Eleni Tamvaki is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Skills and Simulation at the University of Roehampton. Her role involves teaching simulation-based education across nursing programmes, integrating clinical theory with immersive learning to prepare students for real-world healthcare environments. She contributes to curriculum design and delivery within the School of Life and Health Sciences.

She holds a PhD in Nursing Science and a MSc in Child Nursing from the University of Athens, alongside postgraduate training in health and social care research (LSBU). Since 2016, she has taught undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students at the University of Athens, maintaining strong academic ties.

Her clinical career spans over a decade, including roles as a Clinical Research Nurse and ITU Nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and as a Registered Nurse at the University Children’s Hospital of Athens. These experiences have shaped her expertise in paediatric intensive care and clinical education.

Eleni’s research focuses on objective pain assessment in critically ill children, particularly those who are sedated and unable to communicate. Her PhD explored the use of pain neuropeptides as biomarkers, aiming to improve pain evaluation beyond behavioural scales. Her recent scoping review on this topic was published in Critical Care Nurse, which was highlighted by the International Association for the Study of Pain and accompanied by a video presentation. She presented this work at the 7th International Conference on Nursing Science & Practice.
