Qualifications

Masters in Anthropology (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium), Doctorate in Social Anthropology (Oxford University).

Research interests

Anthropological perspectives on the question of life; the interface between the animate and the artificial, between what is alive and what is dead; animism; astrobiology; the usage of microscopes, telescopes, and other means of interacting with the very small, the very large, and the very far.

Research projects

CNRS postdoctoral fellowship (Laboratoire d'Anthropologie Sociale, Paris), ESRC research fellowship (Oxford University), Wenner-Gren Hunt postdoctoral fellowship (Cambridge University), Rachel Carson research fellowship (Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich).

Teaching

Introduction to Social and Cultural Anthropology (1st year Undergraduate Course), Theory: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives (2nd year Undergraduate Course), the Anthropology of Life and Death (3rd year Undergraduate Course). I also contribute to 'Being Human' and 'Special Topics', two 1st year Undergraduate Courses combining perspectives from social and biological anthropology.
