Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Modern History. Before joining the University of Roehampton in 2013, I studied at the University of London and the University of Salamanca and held posts at University College London and London Metropolitan University.

Research interests

My main areas of research are the history of science and medicine, women’s and gender history, and the history of childhood. My research currently focuses on the history of breastfeeding in Britain from the 1860s to the 1970s. I am also working on a smaller project which considers the history of the concept of 'hospitalism' - the understanding that institutional care had adverse effects on infants - before 1945.
