Lewis obtained his BA (Honours) in History at the University of Central Lancashire in 2011, before completing his PhD at Nottingham Trent University in 2016. Before joining Roehampton University in 2017, Lewis held teaching and research positions at the University of Central Lancashire, Nottingham Trent University and Ulster University.   

Research interests

Lewis works on nineteenth and twentieth century British social and economic history, with a particular interest in aspects of poverty and welfare. His published work includes studies of the Poor Law and the Great Irish Famine, and he continues to work on these subjects.
