Biography

Matteo Molinari is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the University of Roehampton. He is the module convenor of Financial Management and Decision Making within the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme and of Business Research Methods. He is a member of the Centre for Sustainability and Responsible Management.

He was a Lecturer in Accounting at Kent Business School (KBS), University of Kent. He also served as a GTA/PhD Coordinator within the KBS Division, and he was a member of the KBS Research Ethics Advisory Group.

Matteo obtained his joint international PhD in Accounting - excellent with honours - from the Universities of Siena, Pisa, and Florence - Italy. He was a PhD research scholar at the Department of Accounting and Finance, The University of Auckland - New Zealand, a long-visiting scholar at King’s College, University of Cambridge, and a summer-visiting scholar at Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago - United States.

Matteo holds a PGCHE from the University of Kent and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Accounting, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Management Accounting and Control.


Matteo’s main research interests include Accounting History, Management Accounting, and Sustainability Accounting. His research aims at advancing accounting knowledge and extending the boundaries of accounting research by contributing to the interdisciplinary literature and stimulating discussion among academics and practitioners. He relies on the intense observation of the cultural, social, economic, and legislative contexts.


Matteo’s research track record is top-tier international journals oriented with multiple papers published in 3* ABS journals. He has won 3 academic research grants issued by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the Italian Academy of Accounting and Reporting (SIDREA). His PhD research project has been awarded by SIDREA.

Matteo is member of many international academic associations, he is a member of the Editorial Board of Meditari Accountancy Research Journal, and he serves as a referee for several international scientific journals, including Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting History, Business Strategy and Environment, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Financial Accountability and Management, Journal of Management and Governance, Meditari Accountancy Research, Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management, Pacific Accounting Review, Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal, etc.
Matteo serves also as a referee for international book publishers, including Bloomsbury Academic, Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge.
