Biography
Rodrigo has joined the University of Roehampton in 2016. His research is innovative focusing on organisational and strategic resilience, risk management and governance, the interaction of humans and accounting technologies, and politics in the construction of managerial discourses. His PhD thesis was related to the challenges and opportunities of risk-management implementation in the banking sector, considering recent trends and best practices in this field. Rodrigo has a strong background in quantitative and qualitative research and both professional and deep theoretical understanding of the implementation and institution of risk management practices.

Consultancy work
Rodrigo has started working in the financial services sector in 2006 and was trained by three of the Big 4 Accounting Firms in Auditing and Operational Risks (Deloitte), Operational Risk Management (KPMG) and Enterprise Risk Management (EY). By working in several financial and non-financial organisations in Brazil and in the UK, he has gathered a broader view of the practices and constraints around risk management implementation in diversified contexts. He also obtained Board level experience as part of the Executive Board of Petrobahia Oil & Gas S/A., a guest researcher and advisor in a Brazilian Development Bank and Independent Financial Director (NED) at UKBBJA. As the Co-Chair of the IRM Innovation SIG, Rodrigo is abreast of the recent trends and best practices in ERM.
In relation to accounting, management, and finance, he brings significant professional and academic experience in financial and non-financial firms particularly in the areas of risk management, internal controls and internal and external auditing. He started to work in the banking sector in 2006 and had several experiences at financial and non-financial organisations after that. This gave him a broader view of the practices and constraints around risk management and control in diversified contexts.
Rodrigo seeks to be an inspiring and supportive educator that embraces the diversity of student learning, interests, and backgrounds. He received the Vice-Chancellor Teaching Excellence Award (Roehampton Business School) in 2019 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA-UK).
