Personal profile

Research interests

I am philosopher who specialises in ethics and political thought.

The main focus of my work is human freedom in history, theory, and practice. Currently, I'm writing on radical political thought in the civic republican tradition. Among my other research interests are critical theory, metaethics, the philosophy of disability, moral conscience, and the politics of sexual desire. In much of my writing, I draw on the history of philosophy to help make sense of contemporary ethical and political problems.

Copies of most of my publications can be found on my website.
