Dr Tri Nguyen joined the University of Roehampton, Faculty of Business and Law, in March 2022 as a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Accounting and Finance. At the Faculty of Business and Law, Dr Nguyen is currently the Programme Convener of the BSc Accounting.
Dr Nguyen completed his PhD in accounting and finance at the University of East London in 2019 (UEL), with a UEL Excellence Doctoral Studentship. He holds a master degree from the University of Sydney, Australia, with a prestigious full scholarship from the Australian Government. He is a Fellowship of Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE, by the Chartered Association of Business Schools).
Dr Nguyen’s research interests are about corporate financial reporting (accounting conservatism, earnings management, accounting comparability, financial reporting complexity, and voluntary disclosure), corporate finance (cash holdings and risk-taking behaviour), corporate governance (boards of directors and chief executive officers), climate-change finance, and economic policy uncertainty. He published his research on the Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting (ABS 3*) and the Journal of Applied Accounting Research. Dr Nguyen’s research was accepted for presentation at many prestigious conferences organised by American Accounting Association, European Accounting Association (EAA), European Financial Management Association, British Accounting and Finance Association, and Hawaii Accounting Research Conference. His research was also featured in the Columbia Law School’s blog, which is one of the most influential blogs for practitioners.
Before joining the University of Roehampton, Dr Nguyen worked for University of Brighton, University of Ulster, University of East London (UK), and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). He also worked as a public auditor for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (Vietnam) and a free-lance consultant for some large corporations in Vietnam. He has much experience in teaching corporate governance, auditing and assurance, and financial reporting.
