Personal profile

Biography

I’m a PhD research student at the University of Roehampton, living and working in Brighton. My research explores sex workers’ experiences of domestic and familial abuse and is deeply informed by my activist work, and my history working in women's outreach and frontline services.

Prior to embarking on a PhD, I received a BA in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Birmingham (2010), and an MA in Sexual Dissidence in Literature and Culture from the University of Sussex (2014).

I am active in the fight for decriminalisation of sex work, and I work closely with SWARM, Decrim Now and ECP.

I am co-convener of the British Sociological Association’s Violence Against Women and Girls Study Group and a board member for the Sex Work Research Hub. I organise two separate international PhD networks: one for researchers of the sex industry, the other for researchers in and around VAWG.
