Biography

Wantao Yu is Professor of Supply Chain Management at the Roehampton Business School. Previously he worked at the University of Kent, University of East Anglia and Buckinghamshire New University. He has experience in teaching operations and supply chain management modules and supervising students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

His work has been published in journals such as International Journal of Operations & Production Management, British Journal of Management, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Industrial Marketing Management, Production Planning & Control, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Business Strategy and the Environment, Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Decision Support Systems.

Research interests

Wantao's current research interests include digital supply chain management, supply chain sustainability, supply chain integration, lean, agile, resilient and green (LARG) supply chain management, modern slavery in supply chains, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, and agri-tech and agri-food production and supply chain management.

Research projects

Wantao has recently completed several projects on agri-tech and data-driven sustainable food supply chains in the UK, China and Africa (Kenya and Uganda), which were funded by Newton Fund and Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). New, agile, and public-private partnerships with wider agricultural community, especially with smallholder farmers, agribusiness companies, technology providers, and government officials, have been developed through trainings, workshops, and field visits, which produced long-term social, environmental, and economic benefits.

Notable Achievements

Wantao was included in Stanford University's list of the world top 2% scientists for citation impact during the single calendar year 2020-2024.

World Health Organization has selected two of his co-authored papers (ABS 3) related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and posted them on their database of impactful research studies.
