Filmmaking

Aside from my academic work, I am also a filmmaker. In 2009, I directed a feature film called EN ATTENDANT GODARD, which esteemed critic Jonathan Rosenbaum rated as one of his Top 5 Films of 2009 in SIGHT & SOUND magazine, alongside work by Alain Resnais and Abbas Kiarostami. EN ATTENDANT GODARD played at CPH PIX in Copenhagen, as well as having screenings at NorthWest Film Forum in Seattle, USA, the Cinemateket in Stockholm, Sweden, and in Curitiba, Brazil. The film also played on the opening weekend of the new ArtsEmerson film and theatre complex in Cambridge, Massachusetts, alongside films by Fritz Lang and Jean-Luc Godard.

In 2010, I completed my second feature film, AFTERIMAGES, which also received a brief mention in SIGHT & SOUND's Films of the Year for 2010 from prominent critic Catherine Wheatley.

Since then, I have completed a further 7 feature films, including COMMON GROUND (2012), CHINA: A USER'S MANUAL (FILMS) (2012), SELFIE (2014), THE NEW HOPE (2015), UR: THE END OF CIVILIZATION IN 90 TABLEAUX (2015), LETTERS TO ARIADNE (2016) and CIRCLE/LINE (2016). I am currently also finishing a 10th feature film, THE BENEFIT OF DOUBT.
