Evaluation of the Community Health and Wellbeing Worker (CHWW) Programme in Southwest London

Project Details

Description

To evaluate the Community Health and Wellbeing Worker (CHWW) programme in South West London. The evaluation will be conducted by Dr Mohamed Elshishtawy and Dr Melissa Jogie, leveraging their expertise in healthcare evaluation. The goal is to assess the programme’s acceptability, feasibility, effectiveness, impact, and reception by local communities and stakeholders.

Following the successful implementation of the CHWW model in Wandsworth in 2023-2024, Southwest London Integrated Care Board (ICB) has expanded the programme to six boroughs: Croydon, Sutton, Merton, Kingston, Richmond, and Wandsworth. Inspired by Brazil's family health strategy, the CHWW programme aims to improve health outcomes, address disparities, and reduce the use of resource-intensive services through community-based interventions. This evaluation seeks to build the case for future funding, scaling, and broader implementation across Southwest London.
