Description
Portugal Prints (PP) - part of Mind in Brent, Wandsworth & Westminster (MBWW) - is a unique therapeutic arts project for people with severe mental health needs. Our ethos is that the people accessing the service become defined as artists, not as their diagnosis. The service enables people to focus on their strengths, develop independence, stay well and consequently reduce the strain on mental health services. PP has been running for over 40 years and we believe this model can be replicated to provide effective mental health support across the UK.
To achieve this, we will:
1 - develop an evaluation and outcomes framework;
2 - package the service model so that it can be replicated by mental health providers and other associations;
3 - market this model to other providers as a commercial product, with attached quality assurance to maintain consistency and excellence.
This innovative approach underpins the uniqueness of the service provided by PP with the academic rigour to support it to become a recognised brand and enable a much wider group of people to benefit. In addition, the licencing model will provide an additional income stream for PP, ensuring its sustainability and capacity to develop new services.
