Measuring and assessing the democratic performance of education systems

Funded by Leverhulme and UCL lead. This project aims to develop an index of educational policies and practices that promote democratic dispositions and to relate this index to political conditions and to democratic outcomes. This index will measure in a comprehensive way how - and how well - a country's education system promotes democratic values and competences. In addition, it aims to examine whether a country’s performance on the index is related to young people's democratic values and competences. Professor Hoskins is the Co-I for this project and main role is on the construction of indexes on the democratic outcomes.
