ATC 4: Measuring MnP uptake and propagation in groundwater food-webs
(Hosts: RU: Robertson, Reiss, Perkins; supported by Loyola, 3 days; month 14)
The ATC will provide training on the design, setup and application of food web studies in groundwater and soil.
This will include an introduction to microcosm exposure experiments, MnP tracing through individual food-web
elements, including particle labelling, imaging and detection as well as extraction, characterization and structural
analysis. The ATC will further provide an introduction into the assessment of MnP impacts on the individual
development of invertebrates, including the preparation of pre-exposed invertebrate’s larvae and adults, assessment
of development abnormalities using geometric morphometry, and measurements of fluctuating asymmetry.
