PROTAX Horizon 2020 Project - New Methods to Prevent, Investigate and Mitigate Corruption and Tax Crimes in the EU

Researchers, law enforcement agencies and national tax authorities from several EU countries have joined this three-year project (PROTAX) to harmonise the treatment of tax crime and enhance information sharing across different European jurisdictions.

The research:
- assessed practices in the participating countries
- identified any gaps in processes
- addressed the challenges of sharing information and best practice
- considered social and ethical implications, such as personal privacy
- created policy guidelines and toolkits to encourage behaviour change.
