The Lived Experience of BAME students

    Project Details

    Description

The aim of the project was to understand the lived experience of BAME students so that more effective interventions could be imagined and brought into reality with (rather than to) students. We assert that we can only raise attainment and engagement by starting with a better understanding of the reality of the lived experience of students, particularly those groups that may have been under-represented in university life in the past.

This project was funded as part of Raising Attainment for All (RAFA2). In partnership with Carshalton College and Queen Mary University of London, RAFA2 was a student-led initiative which focused on the process of academic assessment in higher education with the aim of addressing the attainment gap between Black/African/Caribbean/Black British and White students.

    Key findings
