Abstract

The material is derived from 4 different Welsh folksongs discovered whilst I was researching in Swansea Library in the summer of 2014, surprisingly on a couple of rather wet days. There is an imaginary narrative at work; it is not a coincidence that the centenary of World War I played upon my mind. As such each song becomes more brutalised in its treatment whilst the final song is fragmented until little or no trace remains.
The title is taken from a poem by Octavio Paz.
