Abstract
Picture books provide powerful reading experiences for children offering a wealth of material that can be engaged with on many levels. This article explores the potential of using quality picture books with key stage 2 children and looks at their responses, showing how, through exploring rich, multilayered and challenging texts, the children were able to reach a deeper appreciation of the genre.
