Research output: Book/ReportBookpeer-review

Abstract

Developing Business and Work Readiness Graduates’ is your guide to mastering the art, and science of preparing yourself to succeed in employment or business. It is filled with information and tips from practitioners, employers, and academics, namely those working within the field of business and occupational psychology on what skills today’s graduates need in being successful.

The book aims to encourage you to explore your level of business readiness and to reflect on where this figure stems from, what your strength areas are, and the ones you will need to work harder on to improve, if necessary. It is designed with the modern-day graduate in mind. Considering the current climate, modern day graduates are those who have been raised in a world where digitisation, AI, climate change, and equality, diversity, and inclusion are at the core of all that we do.

This book introduces the concept of Business Readiness, and the 11 competencies that are thought to predict it. Firstly, you will be presented with the Business Graduate Work Readiness Scale (BGWRS), which is a 66-item assessment designed to assess your readiness for employment and business. You should complete this assessment/test before you move on. (Please note that the terms ‘assessment’ and ‘test’ are used interchangeably in this book.
