Abstract

Dietetics is an evidence-based profession incorporating research, reflective practice and systematic clinical reasoning. The knowledge and skills you develop during your university degree are designed to enable you to provide evidence-based, service-user focused dietetic practice. Whilst it may appear that there is a lot known in clinical nutrition, the reality is there is an enormous amount of on-going and much needed research for most areas of dietetics. Qualifying is just the beginning of your dietetics journey, as a registered dietitian you will undertake continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain and increase your knowledge and skills, and stay on top of developments in the field of dietetics. This article aims to highlight the importance of evaluating your information sources and helping you to understanding research studies published in scientific journals.
