Abstract
This is a study of twentieth century British literary biography, focusing on the work of Michael Holroyd, Richard Holmes, Hermione Lee and Claire Tomalin. The book aims to have a conversation with British biographers and understands biography as an ongoing collaboration between biographers, their subjects and readers. It is a study of haunting , in which we haunt the lives of others to help us come to a better understanding if our own.
