Abstract
This short study, loosely based on an earlier piece for solo piano from my set of 12, Allusions and distillations, explores a melodic idea continually interrupted by outbursts from the instrument absent from the homophonic texture. There are other reoccurring passages that also punctuate the melodic development, hence the title. The work is scored for flute, alto flute and bass flute.
